The Purple
Hearts are an extracurricular organization formed to help promote the boys’ basketball program.
The group will consist of 8-12 members, 2-3 from each academic class. Volunteers will be required to fill out a short application
and complete an interview with the boys’ basketball coaching staff. Successful candidates must remain in good academic
standing as defined by the HISD handbook. Members are expected to take a leadership role on campus and must refrain from breaking
school rules. A member is subject to dismissal upon the member’s second placement in SAC during any academic year or
if the student is ruled academically ineligible at any nine-week grading period. The basketball coaching staff will reserve
the right to remove any member for conduct deemed detrimental to the Purple Hearts
squad and/or the men’s basketball program.
Members are required to attend all home varsity basketball
games. They will coordinate cheers for the student section and help organize fundraising activities and in-game promotions.
Most importantly, they will serve as student ambassadors for the basketball program, helping to promote sportsmanship and
to create a fun-filled atmosphere for Bobcat basketball fans.
