Bobcat and Ladycat Powerlifting was formed for the purpose of encouraging
and sponsoring the sport of powerlifting as a co-curricular activity. The goal of the powerlifting
team is to provide an opportunity for high school athletes to compete in a friendly, healthy, and highly organized environment.
To acomplish this Hallsville High School competes
in powerlifting under the direction of the Texas High School Powerlifting Association (THSPA). The T.H.S.P.A. strives to support and compliment the academic endeavors of Texas high schools
by providing a structured arena of competition, a physically healthy lifestyle, and a scholarship program to help worthy individuals
attain their educational goals. One function of
the T.H.S.P.A. is to provide uniformity and accountability to high school powerlifting competitions by maintaining a single,
centralized governing body for high school powerlifting competitions throughout Texas. THSPA follows eligibility rules of
the UIL.
