Mission Statement:
The Hallsville
ISD athletic program helps provide a well rounded education for students and offers many opportunities for the community and
parents to be directly involved in their children’s educational experience. The goal of athletics is to enhance a young
man or woman’s educational experience by teaching self discipline, self sacrifice, and integrity while developing the
work ethic needed to become successful following graduation from high school.

David
Plunk, Hallsville ISD Athletic Director and
Head Coach David Plunk is the Hallsville ISD Athletic Director and head football coach. He received
a B.S.E. and M.E. from Stephen F.Austin University, attended Kilgore College and graduated from Kilgore High School in 1986.
David has been in Hallsville 10 of his 15 years of coaching and previously help offensive coordinator position at Cooper High
School. Prior to that he also held coaching positions at Grand Saline High School and Elkhart High School as the defensive
coordinator. Coach Plunk was broadcast as "The Coach who Makes a Difference" through Texas Cable Telecommunication
Association in 2004. David and his wife, Kelly, have three sons, Kyle, age 10, John David, age 7 and Jack, age 2. When not
coaching football, David's favorite pastimes include playing golf and spending time with his family.
